How to Troubleshoot Engine Components for a Ford Focus

time2011/11/27

The Ford Focus is a popular family car sold world-wide like its predecessor the Ford Escort. Owners like its compact size and new models are sporty cars and more powerful. Keep your car running like new by troubleshooting engine motor components for a Ford Focus.

 Instructions
1、Check your cylinders if the engine isn't accelerating properly. Do a compression test on your cylinder to see if the O-rings are starting to go. You may need to change a cylinder or an O-ring.

2、Take a look inside the engine and look at the valves. See if they are worn and need to be reground. Check for wear and tear in case you need to replace it or regrind the valves. Worn valves affect performance and fuel economy.

3、Look at your cam shafts to see if they are worn or if they aren't getting enough oil. Worn cam shafts can damage the engine or cause the car to stop running properly.

4、Inspect the water pump if the engine overheats. See if the thermostat is working properly because it may need replacing if the engine overheats or if the engine doesn't heat up properly in cold weather.

5、Examine the pistons to see if they are cracked if the engine seizes or makes lots of noise. The o-rings may be worn or the motor components may be loose which effects fuel economy and performance.

6、Verify the car's timing is accurate if the Ford Focus is running roughly or if you have poor fuel economy. The timing belt may have slipped and or the valve time may be out of whack, which can cause the car to seize up.

7、See if your oil pressure light is on which indicates your oil pump may not be working motor components. Also check the oil pump if the car seizes up or overheats.
